Catch a Falling Star and Toy Shop of Belmont is led by owner, Deran Muckjian, who has been in the toy industry for over 45 years. His passion for play, learning, and creativity is what shapes every corner of our stores—from the carefully chosen toys to the warm, personal experience families feel when they walk through the door. A lifelong Belmont resident from a family with deep roots in independent small businesses—from bike shops in Cambridge to an Armenian grocery store in Watertown—Deran continues that tradition by creating a toy store that is more than a place to shop; it’s a place that brings meaning, connection, and joy to the community.

Our staff reflects that same spirit. In Belmont, Nancy and Shelley, have been dedicated to making Toy Shop of Belmont the beloved neighborhood treasure it is today.

This website was created as a birthday gift for the owner — my dad — who has devoted his life to the toy world and to the community that shaped him. His commitment, generosity, and genuine love for what he does are what make these stores such special places. As his daughter, I spent more than a decade working alongside him and witnessed firsthand the care, pride, and heart he brings to his work every single day.

This site is a small way to celebrate him, and everything he has built.
